Weld County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Shooting On February 18, 2017, at approximately 4:30 pm, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 11000 block of WCR 18 near Ft. Lupton to a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived on scene they found that an adult male victim had been struck through the right shoulder by a bullet of an unknown caliber while he was riding an ATV in the area. The victim was transported by ambulance to North Colorado Medical Center; the injury was not life threatening. Deputies are currently conducting a thorough investigation of the incident. There is no threat to the safety of the public at this time. This is an active investigation, and further information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office at 970-356-4015 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776. Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at www.crimeshurt.com. The Polar Plunge is coming! On 03/04/2017 the Weld County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the Polar Plunge at Horsetooth Reservoir in Ft Collins to raise money for the Colorado Special Olympics. We are dedicating this plunge to Chuck Personius, who is the relative of one of our staff members here. In 2016 we dedicated our plane pull to Chuck. Sadly, Chuck passed away in January of this year.
